Ever wanted to know how the pros get such a sweet sound recording live drums? Can't get a good sound recording that saxophone solo? Lead vocal not tweaking right?
As a multitrack recording enthusiast, I'm always looking for tips and tricks I can use when I record music. The other day, I'm surfing around and discover this nifty little desktop utility called Studio Buddy that contains a database of recording tips from industry pros. And, it has answers to the big questions, like:
- How do I record a snare drum?
- How do I record jazz
guitar?
- How do I record background vocals?
- How do I get rid of distortion?
- What do I do about sibilance?
- What is the difference between a dyna mic mic and a condenser mic?
The list goes on and on. After poking through it quite a bit, I've decided that this is a must-have utility for the home recording hobbyist. Best of all, it is FREE (as in beer.) Windows and Mac versions are available... except Mac OS X. Which kinda sucks... but, what can you do?
Studio Buddy was produced by TAXI, an independent A&R company and music referral service, Discmakers (you should know them already), Tascam (you should definitely already know them) and Recording Connection, an organization that guides would-be engineers to the right school.
