Yahoo and Google are in a debate over exactly how large the Web is. Yahoo came up with a number of pages that is more than double what Google has in it's index (19.2 billion.) Google, being the search engine gods that they are, says Yahoo is full of it. Their argument seems to be that Yahoo's software is counting the millions of duplicate pages of content out there on the web.
"The comprehensiveness of any search engine should be measured by real Web pages that can be returned in response to real search queries and verified to be unique," said Sergey Brin, Google's co-founder. "We report the total index size of Google based on this approach."
Yahoo's response was "Oh, yeah? Well, I bet I have a larger penis than you do!" This was sent out via e-mail by CEO Terry S. Semel.
O.k. He didn't really say that. But, man, that would've been some funny stuff if he had.
