This Story from the Associated Press discusses a new technique for turning ordinary plants into audio speakers. How weird is that? The technique, developed in Japan, uses a magnet and coil at the base of the plant's containter to transmit sound waves up the plant's stalk through water veins. The sounds then emanate through the plant's leaves and petals.
